The History of the Cub Scouts
The Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910. Cub Scouting was first incorporated as an experimental program in 1930, By 1933, the experimental restrictions were removed and as of May 25,1933, Cubbing was aggresively promoted as part of the Boy Scout program. Throughout the years, various uniform changes have been made and different ranks were assigned. Boys progreesed through the ranks of Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, and Webelo. Tiger Cubs were first introduced during The National Conference in Atlanta in1982. The first Blue and Gold Banquet was first referred to in literature in 1943. During the War, the boys sold War Bonds and War Stamps. They also planted Victory Gardens. In 1950, The line "to do my duty to GOD and my country" was added to the Cub Scout promise. By 1995, the Tiger Cubs were included in Dens of their own. By 1996, there was a Tiger cub emblem for the uniform. In 2004 National "Good Turn For America" was launched. 2005 will mark the 75th anniversary of Cub Scouting!
